Kitchen sink tap weeping

I have a mono bloc tap which has an adjustable nut at the base of the bloc. It looks part of the tap and so is not "nut like" but it screws tight and uptight.

I have a small leak from here. Do i just retighten and the leak will be fixed or do i need some new washers?

Haven't tightened yet in case this is the wrong thing to do.

Hard to say without a pic. I won't hurt to just nip it up. There might be an O ring in there. I would turn off the supplies and undo it, see if the tap comes apart and if there is some sort of washer.
