Hello!

I'm just in the process of renovating our kitchen as it now spans a coal shed and a morning room I need to get all the floor levels the same, so that when it’s tiled it will be level with the hall floorboards.

Just to throw a spanner in the works I’d also like electric under floor heating.

I've done some research and this is what ive read. Starting at the bottom above the hardcore working to the surface you need:-

50mm of Insulation,
100mm concrete slab.
50mm of screed.

Then the tile adhesive and tiles on top of that.

Does that sound about right or a bit over the top? And where does the electric under floor heating come into the layers?

Thanks very much for any help.

a b'regs floor should consist of:

100mm(min) sulphate free compacted hard core.

30-50mm sand blinding.

dpm.

insulation layer.

100mm concrete slab.

fit the heating mat.

50-75mm floor screed.

Can these measurements be reduced by using any different materials ?

I have underfloor water system, but I don't think the builder has left enough room above the concrete slab for the 50mm insulation and 65mm screed.

Can I used a different screed or thinner insulation ?
