Kitchen tap

Hi
I’m replacing a kitchen tap but haven’t come across a connector like the one feeding the cold tap tail, is this a female to male adapter? There’s no isolator as expected like the hot side so any help would be appreciated

Might be a single check or double check valve (required on mixer taps so no risk of contaminated hot water backfeeding into the cold main).
EDIT Since that tap is fed direct from the main there is not much water wasted by isolating at stoptap and draining pipework. Nothing to stop you fitting an isolator if you want to but do keep that valve (if it is a valve)
