Hello,

I have a dripping hot tap in my kitchen. They are Bristan lever taps. I would like to change the CD valve (I would be changing both). I have purchased the correct valves.

However I cannot seem to undo the existing valves, they're solid. Any advice or hacks on how to undo them?

the photo is an example of the CD valve

Scale builds up and the valve seizes in its own thread. Try long water pump pliers for extra leverage. If brute strength fails you may need a new tap.

One is clockwise I think. Look it up.

You need to shock it.
Put spanner on. Needs a tight fit.
Smack it with hammer. I use a wooden mallet first and the shock with break seal.
Works with all nuts ect.
Escalate to metal hammer if required.

Just make sure you check the release direction to turn

I borrowed the impact driver from work, got I feeling that was only way without removing whole tap, with the impact driver it came off easy. Same when I came to renew euro locks, the one posidrive screw would not budge, until impact driver used.
