Kitchen & Toliet

Hi all,

I live in an ex-authority house where the attached outbuilding has been converted into a utility room and a dining room.

The utlity room has a seperating door, a window, a vent and a toilet. the dining room has a window and an outside door.

My question is can the dining room be converted into a kitchen, or does the presence of a toilet in the adjacent room prevent this?

It used to be that you had to have 2 doors between a toilet & a kitchen but I've learned recently that, apparently, the rules have been changed; but check with your local BC!

I've not come across a toilet in a utility room before but as far as I know there is no regulation against it!

I had one here but took it out and put the cat`s tray in instead

private dwelling wc off kitchen ok but nobody likes them though.

If you don/t need it or particuarly want it Take it out and cap drain befor discussing your alterations with lbco, they dont like you takeing out downstairs w/c if they know about ithem but if it is taken out befor you start the job it is not there concern.

i realise that it might not be the most desirable thing for some, but the layout does work in this house.

Providing you have a hand basin in the toilet then it's okay but as you says check with the BCO first.
