kitchen water supply

hi, im fitting a new kitchen and have to turn off all water to remove old sink , washing machine etc

will i find the switches under the sink for all water supplies?

sometimes - or in the cellar? it all depends on your house, they are all different. That really is the one stop tap that everyone should know where it is and how to turn it off in an emergency as well as the gas valve.

actually once i had a leak in pipes and in my bedroom i lifted the floor boards and turned a tap off, that must be it eh? then do i run the taps until they are empty?

The main water stopcock for the house will be at ground level unless you have a cellar, then it could be down there. God knows what you have found under the bedroom floorboards but it won't be the mains stopcock (unless maybe you live in a bungalow)?
