MiL got inset hob replaced recently, but new hob is smaller than old, so fitters filled the gap at rear with a plain piece of wood.

I'm now called upon to find something to cover it with. The worktop is years old, so unlikely to get anything to match. I need something thin, maybe no more than 1-2mm thick, which can be easily cut around the hob, and which is heat resistant.

Anyone know of anything that's available off the shelf? Pic attached.

A strip of stainless steel?

Kitchen extract fans, are supplied with stainless steel box section. When new units are fitted the old box, is thrown away. Find some of that, and ask a fabricator to chop it to size, in their guillotine.

Strip of worktop edging that's a reasonable match, glued on.

Any recommendations for heat-resistant adhesive?

Most everything appears to be iron-on edging, but there's no room for an iron in there...
