Hi DIY experts,

My kitchen has a worktop which is wood covered with a sheet - not sure what you call these types of worktops. The problem is at the point where it meets the wall with tiles (near the sink), water has gone in between worktop and tiles causing a depression i.e. a gaping crack.

How do I repair this type of problem? I've tried applying bathroom sealant which worked OK for a couple of weeks and then came off quickly - does not bond well with the worktop.

Tried tile grout as well but no joy. If I press the work top in that area, it depresses even more making the crack bigger.

I hope I've explained it properly. I've attached a picture in case I have'nt.

A silicon sealant should seal the area with ease, if yours failed then it would due to lack of preparation, area needs to be spottlessly clean. If the area can be depressed then the chipboard below the laminate top has been damaged by water and only 100% solution would be a new top.
