My home is approx. 3 years old and in Dec. 2003 I began noticing a loud banging sound coming from within the walls at various locations. I think this may be coming from the plumbing pipes but am not sure. It occurs randomly, at various times of the day/night. My concern is whether this is a serious problem, if it may lead to costly damage (i.e. leakage, etc.) and what I can reasonably do to remedy the problem. The noise itself isn't as much of a concern as the potential for more serious damage down the road! Any help is greatly appreciated.
