I have a Victorian property with a chimney stack that runs through the middle of the house. Downstairs there is a room on each side of the chimney stack with a fireplace in each room.
I want to put a wood burner in but wondered if it was possible or structural safe to knock through the back of the fireplace to create an opening which you can see in both rooms.
I then wanted to put a wood burner in the middle with glass on both sides so that it can hear each room.
Has anyone experience of this and do I need to involve a structural engineer?
