Hello,
I need any advice anyone can give.... I just had a beautiful new bannister and spindles installed. To keep the wood in good condition, before applying varnish to the banister I applied knotting solution to the knots.
When I applied the knotting solution I applied it on the knot and around the immediate outside edge. When I went to put on the varnish, it appears that the varnish does not penetrate the knotting solution. As a result I have large patchy rings around the outside of every knot!!
I've tried sanding everying right down and re-applying the varnish, but I still have the rings Can anyone please help... I don't know what to do, and REALLY do not want to pain the bannister.
Thank you in advance.
Wendy
