Here's a question to ponder over.

On a tab box in big writing it says SMOKING KILLS ( which is a good idea )

So how come it says nothing about kills/harmfull when you buy 4 cans of beer/larger, or a bottle of lets say vodka etc... is it up to whoever makes these products or does the gov say. ? just a thought..

btw I've got both in front of me.

Untill it's 2 in the morning and people start a fight because they are drunk.

Alcohol can still harm/kill the one who drinks it over time, even a short time if they are'nt used to it. A few hours if drank a large amount ( alcohol poisioning )

i think the health warnings are referring to consumption of the product within and not its collateral consequences.

they could read ' this vodka bottle is harmful when broken and shoved in yer face', or this fag packet can choke if swallowed hole, but i guess we already know that.

I remember it being announced on the news a few years back that drinking a couple of units a day was actually beneficial. In fact a friend of my father lives in France and had heart trouble about 7-10 years ago and was given red wine in intensive care.
You can't say the same of smoking though.

I drink too much (I'm sure of that fact) but at least my habit doesn't directly affect the health of someone I don't even know in the pub.

I can't wait for the smoking ban in pubs.
