Hi wonder if anyone can help. My partner and raised our loft tank (1M 60 from floor) to increase the pressure for the new shower fitted. Once we had done the pipe work and connected the tank back up we started letting in water into the tank. Water comes out of both the hot and cold water taps on the sink and bath but the pressure has not improved greatly and the shower is bearly spraying but it is better but not as good as we expected. Any ideas?

I wouldn't expect a huge difference - depends on the sh head.
Could be air in the pipes or dirt inside the head. Try to get the mains to squirt up the hose to push air out.

Measure and report
1) Flow at H and C taps
2) flow at sh head
3) flow from hose with head unscrewed
4) flow with hose unscrewed - messy I know but the hose may be kinked inside.

By raising your cistern 1.6 metres you have increased the pressure by .16 of a bar as 10 metres of head is equal to 1 bar of pressure.
Do as Chris R suggests and /or consider having a pump fitted
