Hi guys,
My little extension is almost complete so will be looking at flooring very soon
Now I have laid laminate a few times and do ok with it, but am looking for advice on the best way to finish it against some internal doors.
Basically I have added another room onto my existing living room. The new room will have oak bi folds that came with a threshold 20mm high. I have bought laminate floor but 2 different colours. One for each room. I want to lay the boards so the short (cut) ends are up against the threshold, same in both rooms
Now threshold is 20mm high, floor is 12mm thick with 5mm insulation. Giving me a 3mm step. ( threshold could be raised a few more mm if required).
What’s the easiest and smartest way to tidy it up where it meets the threshold? One guy (who isn’t a joiner suggested laying the boards the other way round and butted up against the threshold with the tongue cut off , I don’t want them this way round.
He also suggested cutting them leaving a small 5mm gap and filling with silicone.
Both these seem a complete bodge.
Can’t seem to find any other suggestions on google?! Bearing in mind it’s likely to be walked on a fair bit so has to be durable
The existing (or soon to be) threshold for the bifolds has to be there and cannot be taken away
Thanks!
