Hi Guys!

Weird one, a few weeks ago my upstairs landing light has gone dull.

downstairs has a double dimmer switch
Upstairs has a single normal switch

240v on switches and lights when you put the light on its very dull, has 4 bulbs so the with two bulbs it gets duller and then the other 2 dont work at all?

works fine connected to a plug socket.

EDIT:
Is this a new problem or havs any change been made?
Is is extra low voltage with a transformer?

If either of these are yes answer and come back here.
If these are both 'no' then proceed.

I'll assume it's the downstairs dimmer causing the problem?

Are you safe and confident using a screwdriver?

If so my suggestion is to safely (Ie turn the power off first) disconnet all three wires from the downstairs dimmer (only the dimmer for the upstairs light) and join them together with a connector.

Turn the power back on and the light should be on and operating the upstairs 2way switch should make no difference (but there may be a little flick of the light as you operate it)

If it does what I say you have a faulty dimmer.

Have you changed any wiring?

It's possible you've wired something in series.

Yes, my initial reply in black assumed it's a dimmer fault then realised this is equally symptoms of what you ask.

All sorted thanks!

I assumed it wouldn't be the dimmer as it was replaced only a month ago but indeed it was faulty already!
