Landing light switch help

Hi probly been asked many times but can not find what I'm after. I am fitting new light switch on the up stairs landing, I have a 1 gang single switch but two red wires and one black. I'm guessing this extra red wire is to control the light at the bottom of the landing. How do I wire it please?

Thanks but just need to know were the extra red wire goes or do both red wires go in common? The light switch cover has been off a wile and forgot were they went.
