Hi there I am looking at purchasing a house that has a few issues. The exterior render of the property is cracked horizontally in two places on the wall.
The stair case is long this length of the wall and I know this commonly can be an issue with restraint of the gable wall. It does not appear to be budging or have any significant structural movement, there are no apparent cracks within the property. I also understand that due to thermal movment its quite common for cracking on the gable end of a property.
I’m asking this to find out if its likely to be a structural issue (iv placed a spirit level on the wall and it appears fine low down at least). If its not what is the best way of making good the crack, is it best to fill with some type of flexible sealant and paint over, or just rake out and infill with a cementations render.
