Im working in an old 3 storey and cellared house in Kent, The lady of the house asked me to have a look at one of the rooms on the top floor in which she said she had a crack appear.
On looking I discovered that at the ceiling joint along the wall and running down the corner of the room was indeed a crack(more like a chasm).
It has opened about 10-15mm. The base material is brick supporting the joist of the roof. All the other walls internal are made of lath and plaster, It looks as if the roof is actually lifting from the wall.
I told her to contact a surveyor but thought you guys may be able to advise.
