Hiya

I have a small bathroom which I tiled with "bargain" tiles from B&Q. I must have a screw or nail loose under one of the tiles because it has cracked twice just from someone putting a fair bit of weight on it. The line of tiles has been discontinued in B&Q so I've decided to tile over the old tiles with something more durable.

I was hoping to lay latex screed over the old tiles so as to get rid of the bump that caused the crack in the first place - is this okay?

Hi sapper
its always better to lift all of the old tiles and strart afresh. If your old tiles are glazed ceramic tiles then you really must lift them. If they are quarry tiles then if you really have to leave them down then best lift the one thats cracking and infill with a heavy mix first. Make sure the floor is clean and free from grease, then apply a scrape on screed, scraping so that you apply only a thin coat to the high points of the tiles and infill the channels.
