Hi all, I'm going to lay vinyl on my new plywood floor and want to smooth/fill all the screw holes and join. Would it be OK to thinly apply self leveling compound to do this? And is it suitable for 1st floor use due to flexing of the floor?
Cheers.

I've found that reading the instructions can give all the answers!

you need a product called 'feather finish' or 'skim coat'

Fball (stopgap) make one called F500
Ardex make one called i think 'feather finish'

Or if you need to put it on thicker to level the floor then use a wood smooth type screed like f.ball 700, mapei renovation or level flex.

I used the slc as I already had it.
I primed the plywood with a 1:4 pva to water mix and let it dry. I mixed the slc slight wetter than normal andit used a float to spread and smooth it.
It dried with the trowel lines showing. I thought it wouldself level itself flat.
I rubbed a house brick over the whole area to knock offany peaks and highlite any low areas which were filled with a fine flexible filler.
I'm glad it was a small area! Turned out well in the end.
Cheers for all the replies.
Nick.
