latex paint???

hi all

here's one someone must have an answer for...

...redecorating we finally chose a mural wallpaper... cut to the chase here...
the instructions say paint the wall with a 'flat latex paint' before sticking the paper up!!!

latex paint??? ok , where do you get it from apart from the USA or is it called something else in the UK?
Or anyone been there, done that and used something else..??

Sounds like you've just got to put a coat of contract matt on

whats the diff between contract and emulsion (that dont say contract) ??

Emulsion means it is particles in suspension. Contract has no (or little) vinyl.

Better off coating room with 'Gardz' in my opinion.

any idea why they are specifying such paint before papering ? never had to do it before or heard of it??

It gives it a uniform surface with known characteristics.

hi all

...so i went looking for contract matt emulsion today and found it... but also found silk...

is there any reason you guys have specifically said 'matt' but not silk??
or as long as its contract emulsion its ok??
