Hi

I have recently put up a fence (see pic) and was going to paint it a colour but looking at it I like it they way it is or maybe a wee bit darker.

What would you recommend, clear varnish or is there a varnish with a nice stain for the wood grain?

Thanks

Cannot see pic, but do not use varnish on fence panels it will peal very quickly a wood stain that soaks in and breaths is the way to go perhaps one that states the colour as natural might work.
If the fence as I suspect is feather-edge I just leave mine they tend to bleach white but you do not need to retreat each year as you will with any kind of stain.

trouble with paint and varnish is it will one day start to flake off and then it is a right pain to redo. Stains are better, I have just done some outdoor wood with a oak coloured decking oil, that soaks in and at worst it will just fade and I can apply more.
