I am just about to commence work, have all the tools and will prepare well.
I have a question about the pattern of the joins when laying. Because of the shape of the room, it has not quite square and has two window bays and another area that is not uniform my cuts will not always be in the same place. Are ther hard and fast rules for this and in your experience what looks the best?
Thanks for your help.

Random pattern, or in other words: stagger your joints. This will not only increase the stability of your floor it will look better too.

Make sure every joint of the next row is at least 30cm away from a joint in the neighbouring row.
