I have bought enough 3/4 inch thick reclaimed floorboards to cover the first floor of my self build. Joists are at 600mm centres. What is the recommended maximum span (will 600mm be ok?). Should I install a subfloor first?

350 max 400mm is recommended (measured middle of joist to middle of joist)

Thanks for quick reply. I had a strange feeling that would be the answer. Can I get away with laying 12mm sterling board first?

helllooo canfordkid :D :D :D

eeeeehhhh your in "a selfbuild"!!! are you working to the required regs!!!

if your joist are at 600 centres they are possibly undersized and need extra support what size are the joists and what is the unsuported span!!!!!!

your house wont be "sighned off "if it aint right

Having taken other alternative advice it's the same - so it's going to be 18mm T&G chipboard. No worries on the truss front as it's well over specced. This baby ain't moving believe me. All internal walls are load bearing foundations around 2 metres with roof of 9 x 2 joists and 5 x 2 everywhere else and made by a company recommended by the inspector. Thanks for the concern though.

fantastic great news gladd yor playing by the rules as so many people think self build means "cut corners" ;)
