Have a major problem with dry rot in our front room floor, the cause is the pipes taking away water from the gutters/downpipe at the front of the house being completely bunged up with roots, so the water is coming down the downpipe and just sitting in the ground outside the house.

We've dug out the offending 20 trees (laurel/conifers), smashed out the chamber at the bottom of the downpipe and started digging out the pipes.

What do we need to buy in terms of new pipework? What kind and how much are we talking?

The run is 30-40ft to the main road. And what do we do regarding connecting the pipes to the drains? Contact the water board?

Many thanks.

This pipe will do the trick , following this method.

Follow the existing run and to save a load of nonsense with building control etc, use an adjustable coupler such as on this page to connect to the existing drain within your boundary. Noone will be any the wiser, and there's no need to grass yourselves up and pay fees. ;)

We had to, we have a pressed concrete cobblestone drive, there was no other way of getting to the pipe, other than digging out the trees.

There wasn't an alternative -- but it will be so much better without them blocking out the light anyway, it was worth it.

The trees run right along the boundary and over the top of the pipe -- hence the problem with the roots!

Thank you so much for the advice :D
