We are extending our kitchen / diner, using a block and beam floor. We thought it would be nice to continue the existing floorboards in the dining part, by using reclaimed boards from the upstairs bedrooms (they're in great nick and can easily be taken up and sanded) on the new part, but we've come across a few stumbling blocks:
1) How to lay batons / beams on the block and beam floor without piercing the DPM? (is there another way to lay the pine boards - can they be glued onto chipboard on top the the celotex?)
2) We want a tiled area that will overlap part of the existing floor - how to get this running flush with the existing floor?
Otherwise I guess we will just have to laminate over the whole area, but it would be a shame as the rest of the downstairs will have lovely stripped boards!
