Laying riven stone floor on concrete

I am going to lay a riven stone floor on an existing concrete floor. The riven stones are various thicknesses and I have worked out a random pattern. I cannot decide what is best to lay them on. Dry mix, screed or cement.

Any views ?

What type of stone is it and how thick are the tiles/slabs and what sizes
If they vary by upto 10mm then I would use a tile adhesive and large format trowel something like the giant Rubi 20x20 at the bottom of this page.

The stone slabs are varying from about 10mm up to 30mm.

They are natural riven stone from the quarry but cut to shape. (various rectangles and squares).
