Laying turf

Got a small amount of turf to lay. Is it weed, top soil , level with rake and spirit level then water then lay and tuck in edges then water every day?

I think you have to tread the topsoil down with your heels to compact it before levelling otherwise you can get humps in the lawn if it’s left soft and to find its own level.

Better with a roller than your heel, otherwise you will end up with bumps and hollows.
