The lcd screen of my digital timeswitch has recently stopped displaying any information, however the timeswitch unit is continuing to work as it should, coming on at the pre programmed times and turning on when set manually.

Although the timeswitch doesn't have a logo on it after a bit of searching it appears to be an Eltime LCD Digital Timeswitch - 2 Channel http://www.eltime.co.uk/product.php/53/LCD Digital Timeswitch - 2 Channel.html. Are these things designed to have the lcd screen replaced or would a whole new timeswitch be needed?

Any help or advice is much appreciated

You need a whole new switch.

Probably doesn't need to be the same make/model if another one will fit.

update: have received a reply from Eltime saying that the LCD screen failure means the whole unit will need to be replaced and i can buy one from them for £43.90 + VAT.

Is replacing this something I could do myself or would I need to pay an electrician to come and do it? I'm quite able at DIY stuff but never done a timeswitch replacement before, are there any online guides available for this?

If you can make a note of the position of the old wires and the new unit is identical, it should be a very easy DIY job.

thats good to know its a simple job. The final question i have is the timeswitch is contained on Protek IP65 2 bank 36 Module Enclosure, to open these up is it simply a case of unscrewing the 2 screws and removing the front panel?

this image is a similar enclosure to the one i have but its a bit wider with the timeswitch in the bottom left corner

Yes its in my flat, took the front off this evenin & all looks simple enough to replace, as was mentioned earlier as its the same brand timeswitch just remember wher each of the wires go

you have a flat with a 36 module CU?

mines only 24

is your flat in some way unusual?

Its a 36 module but just over a third of it is empty, maybe the builder had some spares he needed to get rid of!

Was built in 2006 so I don't think it's unusual in anyway (hope not at least) :)
