LCD TV's

Since taking delivery of a new LCD television last week, a message keeps on appearing stating that a new DVB service has been found. I have tried half a dozen times to install this new service, but still only have the same channels I started off with. Is this something that just happens with LCD TV's or what?

Is a television regarded as an appliance or should I have posted my problem under another heading?

Its a bit of grey area, but the question you asked is not electrical, its to do with your tv settings

Have u read the manual..My guess + wot do I Know...u got a tv with a freeview tuner?..if I am correct u need to go to messages = tell it not to tell u.

The usual reason for this is because your aerial cannot pick up all of the multiplexes. Digital TV signals are broadcast on six multiplexes. What's happening is that your TV is receiving notification of a new service and then tries to scan for it but it is on a multiplex that is too weak for you to receive so it misses it when scanning.

You must look to your signal reception. If your analogue signal was not up to scratch previous to installing digital tv ie your previous 4 or 5 analogue channels came through with a snowy grainy effect on the picture then it is a good indication you will have trouble with your digital pictures. This manifests itself by your pictures either locking up ie freezing or breaking up into blocks and distorting or as Gary b posts not being able to pick up the multiplex at all. It is not a serious problem if you consult an aerial rigger there are quite a few options he can use to improve your signal strength and quality
