Hi guys, I'm about to (in 2 weeks) get sky installed on my roof, and whilst I'm up there I'm going to clean the gutters(which are of the lead gully type). My question is, is there anything I should look out for to indicate that they are perished? I'm going to take photos whilst I'm up there to get them looked over (I can post them here when I get them) but is there any general signs?

My other question is relating to possible repairs. I can get my hands on a sealant that is used on subsea pipelines (!) it's designed to be very stable, displace water and set in wet conditions. I was thinking that as a short term fix I could use this to fix any holes/gaps and seal along the joins in the lead.

Does this sound like a good idea or should I just leave it till a pro looks at it?
