Hi All,

I have a couple of leaded widows (glass in individual panes) that need replacing as a couple of the panes have been cracked. How easy is this to do or should I consider taking all sections out and replacing with 1 piece with "false" leading??

Any advice appreciated.

Cheers

Tony :D

It’s quiet a specialised skill & there’s always the risk you will break yet more panes attempting to seal the lead; I repaired a book case with leaded lights once, I managed to replace the broken pane but it in didn’t look very good close up. You might find a local, established glazier who can do it but they are becoming quiet rare & it’s likely to be expensive. We had genuine leaded lights in our last property & local scum threw a brick through it; the insurance repair bill was just short of £700 & we had to look at a sheet of plywood for 3 weeks!
