I've got a leak I think coming from the attic but can't see where. On investigation the soil stand pipe isn't connected very well to the vent part of the pipe looks like flexible hose and tape, could be something to do with this? It seems to leak when the heating has been on but is then turned off. The boiler is in the attic. Any ideas?

Got to shine up my crystal ball... in the meantime, photos would help us all.

Sounds like it's not quite right.

this is the best I have at the moment this is how the pipe is connected up. I'm assuming it's not good but doesn't appear to be wet there

That looks like a hose from an extractor fan ,bathroom or ensuite ?
It's a bit of a bodge job and needs redoing. However it's nowt to do with central heating ,and your leak may be elsewhere.

If it is a bathroom extract, then it could be condensation, condensing in the pipe then dripping through a hole in the pipe.

I've been led to believe that hose is connecting the soil stand pipe that goes down the side of the bathroom to the vent out of the roof. There is an extractor in the bathroom but it hasn't been used as I haven't moved in yet and it's turned off. The leak only seems to happen when I've had the heating on but then it cools down after I've turned it off. Just wondering if there's any obvious place to look when leak only happens in those circumstances?

It could be the boiler condensate - have you a photo of the boiler etc..?

Are you renting?

How do you know it leaks if you havn't moved in??

I've had the house for over a month and been there painting etc with the heating on for an hour, leak on ceiling the next day. I've taken some plasterboard out on the other side of the bathroom wall and it's dripping down there. But only seems to do it after heating goes off. That could be how long it takes to seep through though. Drues out if I don't have the heating on though. No not renting

What type of boiler? Is the boiler losing pressure at all? If not sounds like could be the condensate pipe/joint.
