Replacing a tap washer, I turnd off the isolation valve.

http://www.screwfix.com/p/15mm-isolating-valve-pack-of-10/32802

As I turned the valve, water spurted out, but then ceased as I reached the of position.

Same happend later as I turned it back on again later.

It came from the valve itself, not from either end where it joins the pipe.

Is this normal and should I worry? Or just be happy it does not leak as long as I leave it alone!![/url]

A common problem with that type of valve. If it has stopped leaking, then leave well alone.
Some continue to leak even when fully open/closed.

Crap proprietry valves I'm afraid, made with ill fitting liners in the ball valve and can cause problems, it's just your luck unfortunately.
As FP says, if it's ok when open/closed then it should be ok.

If your handy though and are happy to do it then better to replace it to avoid future probs IMO
