leaking bypass valve adjusting screw

can the bypass adjusting screw be removed and repaired to prevent leak?

Is there some kind of seal on it that can be renewed?

thats a pressure guage for the 240 rsf.

think i need an o ring for the adjuster screw!

do i have to drain combi before removing adjuster?

Sorry, don't know where that number came from.

Try 87161205080 for the bypass assembly then.

You have to drain the heating side to do anything to the bypass.

I don't expect you will find a seal listed separately.

If it did come apart you would probably have to match up the size of seal with a generic one.

Most engineers would just replace the whole assembly!

The old post is interesting but be aware that it was over 10 years ago.

Whilst Worcester are better than many others with older spare parts they usually discontinue smaller parts where a larger assembly is still available. So the screw alone may not be available.

In theory Worcester Spares department should be able to help but mostly I have never been impressed by manufacturers spares people who usually will do no more than ask for a part number!

The usual way to find parts is to go to Parts Centre and they bring up an exploded diagram and you point to the part required and they see if it has a part number and is still available.

I would try to replace just the "O" ring seal as I have generic selections available to choose what may fit.

Part No. 87161408080 is just the O ring 2.40mm x 7.60mm inside dia.

or Part No. 87161402540 is the bypass screw, O ring and circlip.

managed to get 'o' ring at plumb centre branch after looking at their schematic database.

they only had the one!!!

once you have the part number and search it, they are also available online at numerous heating suppliers.

so i will remove and replace the 'o' ring when I get the chance.

once adjusted, is this bypass valve open continually (passing) whatever is demanded ch or dhw? (just a bore between flow and return which is restricted with the bypass screw)

or

is there an internal mechanism which opens and closes the valve as and when required?

how does it work!!!

It is always present between flow and return.

But there is no flow pressure during DHW as the flow is diverted to produce the hot water!
