My bathroom heated towel rail has en electric element so on one side it has a chrome T piece, that the heater is screwed into. On the other side, to make the plumbing symetrical, i have used one of these:

The problem is i can't seem to get it tight enough to stop it slightly leaking i.e. when it is screwed in and lined up with the angled valve it doesn't compress the rubber o ring enough to completely seal and another 360 degree turn would be too much. I have tried loads of ptfe and Boss White but over time it eventually slightly drips (when the system is cold).
Do i need some washers to make the o ring fully compessed when it is lined up with the valve?
