Leaking Durgo/Air Admittance Valve

I have a foul smell in my toilet and suspect its due to a leaking air admittance valve. It looks like the type that has a solvent joint so not easy to remove and replace. Can they be repaired in situ as it in the tricky position behind the wc, so difficult to get a hacksaw to it.

Any suggestions?

Tape a plastic bag over it to test whether that stops the smell. The leak might be elsewhere.

I have done that - the smell goes away after a plastic bag is fitted over the pipe so its due to the air admittance valve - can they be repaired or is it a case of having to cut the pipe (due to the solvent joint) and replace?

None of the one's that I've seen look as if they can be repaired, but if you can identify the manufacturer you could ask them.
