Leaking radiators

Can anyone help please? In the past 4 weeks four of our pressed steel radiators have sprung leaks. The central heating system was installed when the house was new in 1992. It is an open system. In two of the rads the leaks have appeared on seams, but in the other two pinholes were in the main body nowhere near a seam. All leaking rads are on the ground floor. The boiler is original, but we are on our second central heating pump. We are in a hard water area but have a water softener. Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

Obviously corrosion. Has the system ever been treated (cleanser and inhibitor) ? Standard rads these days are cheap enough to replace but sounds like you also need a good flush and then inhibitor.

Not unless it was done immediately after installation

Even so, doesn't last for 13 years (read the product descriptions). Not sure why you are asking if your first response is entirely defensive of your position ! Your on your own, good luck.

Your system could have been taking in air or have a leak taking in fresh water which will corrode your system quicker.

Dig deep and replace affected rads and use Fernox inhibitor.

My rads are the same age and I am replacing them one by one.

If you have "softened" water in your heating system, you would get fast corrosion because of the chloride ions. DON'T use it!
