Hello
Looking for some advice on some work I've recently had done.
A property I am having renovated has a extension roof which was leaking so we asked the builder to see what was required and it required re-felting and battens and a couple of new tiles. Work was done but with recent bad weather it started leaking in one area close to where the extension joins the property. An area of felt had sagged and water was tracking through.
Builder had a look and has tucked the felt backup and its stopped leaking. The felt had dropped by about 4 inches in one part where the extension meets the main building. However I am a bit concerned that it just seems to be the felt that is stopping the leak. He's said that the tiles could be wrong for the pitch of roof (its not very steep but does have a slope) and that as the roof had snow on it for a long time that the tiles soak up the moisture and water will penetrate. After several nights of heavy rain at the time is this right?
The tiles are double romans I think. How can you tell if they are wrong for the pitch of the roof? Also I noticed that the new batten is much thicker than the old could this be a factor?
Hoping someone can put my mind at rest really, we've been really pleased with the standard of work so far and would just like a few opinions if this is enough info to go on. Thanks for looking.
