Evening everyone and happy new year,

I have recently bought a second hand shower mixer unit (pictured). When connected the unit leaks from the water outlet (as if it where going to the shower head but not connected).

Its as if you can't fully turn off the water via the on/off lever.

Any ideas if this is fixable? A new cartridge?

Not even sure who makes this mixer, any clues?

Cheers olly

This type of item are generally only replaced when they are busted.
Highly unlikely to be worth repairing.
Even if it was repaired, how long before some other part of it fails?

Yeah i know its not the best thing to do, but is it possible to fix it?

What do you think is wrong with it?

The top splined shaft is the flow on/off, it will most likely have a 'regular' sytle tap headgear in there either washered or ceramic disc. This alone controls water to the shower head.

See if you can remove it and then post a pic.

Just curious as to the reason to buy 2nd hand such an item?

Its certainly a ceramic cartridge, best bet is to go to B&Q tomorrow and see if you can match one up, they have various sizes regarding the splined shaft (8,10,12) etc. The thread will be 1/2" BSP or 3/4" BSP

You'll have to buy two though, or see if a plumbers merchant has any, mine never do as there are two many sizes to keep in stock.
