As quick as the water fills in, it goes out the bottom. Also, I found a 2"
nail in one of the drum holes.

make sure the drain hose is looped above the hight of the drum before it goes into the drain

Finding leaks is usually quite easy. Take the top and the back off the machine, set it on a rinse programme and watch to see where water comes out.
