4x1???

Trial and error will get you there, if you've enough wood

Get yerself a sliding bevel. Or you can blag it with a pocket sized level and a square. And a third hand.

do you know what type of roof tiles you will be using?

a 4"x 1" pitching plate will not suffice, unless it is a dolls house.

The tiles will be marley modern interlocking tiles. What size pitching plate should i use? Will 6"x"2" be ok for the rafters?

what will be the clear span of the rafters and their intended pitch?

incidentally, marley mod's can go down to 17.5 deg pitch with 100mm headlap.

you may get away with 150 x 50mm timbers at 400mm centres.

this would require a pitching plate of at least 175 x 50mm to accommodate the whole spayed cut.

How do i go about marking them out? Why 400 centres? Will be putting a couple of velux windows in aswell.Do this make a difference?

fit a pair of rafters (spiked together) up each side of the velux forming a double trimmer.

do you have a sliding bevel?
