I'm looking at making one in a couple of weeks time, once I've sorted out the far end of the garden.

Ideally, I'm looking at putting up a 6m wide x 3m Pergola. I want it so it comes off the rear of the house. I'd prefer it to be a bit wider but 6m would be good enough.

I was thinking 2.4m high where it is attached to the house and leaning to 2.1m away from the house. Maybe at a later stage, I might put a roof and gutter on it.

What would be the ideal way to fix it to the brickwork? Thunderbolts and 4"x2" or would thunderbolts not be up to it?

I've got a timber mill near by so getting the wood at a decent price isn't a problem.

Any suggestions, criticism or ideas?
