LED Bathroom Ceiling light

Can someone advise me on how to change these lights - i thought i'd just be able to take the bulb out but it appears to be attached to the fitting - they are about 8 years old. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Pics below

If those lights, are LED's, then the likelihood is that you cannot fit replacements, you swap the entire fitting.

If when on, they become too hot to touch, they will be halogen lamps. In which case, try a sucker on the face, to pull the lamp out. Instead of a sucker, you might be able to do it with a decent lump of bluetack.

Thanks Harry - they are definitely LED as I remember the builder said they would last for years and years. Not sure i'd know where to start replacing the whole fitting

The black cable, might go to a driver/power supply, or to a 240v joint. Turn the power off, see where it goes, and disconnect it, then you will need to source a electrically, and size matching replacement.

Come back for more advice, once you know where the black supply cable goes.

yes! this is the one - although it looks like it's discontinued and only available to collect in the Isle of Man! any advice on what I can get to replace? i fear this may be beyond my limited diy capabilities!

Do you have any more of these spotlights?
They have a separate driver unit that they plug into.
If you have other spotlights, you can swap them around to discover if the driver is at fault, or the light itself.

thanks - there are 4 in the bathroom - only two are working. I wouldn't know how to switch them so think i need to get someone in.

If you just tug the cable through the hole, then you may find the plug and socket joint, and/or the driver unit. Idea is the by substitution, diagnose what has failed, LED, or the driver unit.

If you take your none working LED, and plug it in place of the LED which works, and it then works - you have established that the LED is OK, so the driver unit must have failed. If, on the other hand, it doesn't work, you have established that the LED is faulty.

You can confirm the driver unit, using the same substitution process, by plugging the known good LED, into that.

It's not at all difficult...
