Hi. We have an extension build to one side of the house which is not level with the rest of the house (first floor). Therefore, landing of the stairs could not be throughout. Now we have this 'dip' which is the most annoying thing. We still need to cover the floor with hardwood flooring. Is there a way to make this area more comfortable to walk from one side to another? Thank you

To make it level you'd have to either move the whole staircase forward, by one tread, or throw away the existing staircase, and replace with another, slightly steeper, i.e. slightly higher risers but one more than current.
There are regulations that dictate the height of risers, and depth of treads.

Question to the experts, 'cos I don't the answer.
Would it be possible to do it by building slightly higher risers and new treads on the existing stairs?
42 degrees max. 220mm rise and going max. There may be some leeway regards existing but doubtful anything meaningful can be achieved with that set-up.

Thank you. The main problem with moving the staircase is that floor level of the old build and extension is not level. So even if we was to replace the staircase they would not connect. Another problem is, build in wardrobe is already done under the stairs and tiling around bottom of the stairs

I think that's a very good suggestion at the moment

I think you'll get used to it pretty quick, its fairly common when side extensions are added. Be a pain to raise all the risers, assume it could be done to meet the regs, all the stringers would be off too, handrails as-well if there are any atm.
