If they're good little boys they can be out in just over 8 years. Maybe 'life sentences' re the letter of the law, however here in the real world they might be out living it up by their early 20s. Meanwhile, the family of the victim have their life sentence.

Oh but if they commit a crime when free they'll be right back inside. Big deal.

People given life sentences often have a minimum term, but this is usually well into double figures, 16/18 years at least.
