Hi all,

Can anyone confirm this diagram for me please.

I know this will work but if there a better way of doing it and/or is this way not 'safe'
Note: Outside lights on own circuit

cheers

Will come from CU on its on MCB - on the non RCB side ?

Why?

Would it not be better via the lighting circuit mcb and the rcd that covers that circuit?

Run a feed for LNE from the previous switch?

A seperate feed and no rcd protection seems odd (to me).

I thought outdoor lights should be on separate feed? as good practice?

I have the opportunity to put a separate feed in now as everything is ripped out, so thought it would be a good idea?

If there is no real need then I will save on the cable and just - as you say - take it from the last switch

The only reason I could see for doing a separate circuit and feed for the external light would be water ingress and failure of the whole lighting circuit.

Provided the light fitting is suitably ip rated for its location there is absolutely nothing wrong with making it part of your existing lighting circuit.

Could always use a grid switch for the 2-gang with a DP module for the outside light to remove any water-induced tripping concerns.

Op will have external light on a sensor, hence the switch on / off to turn in on permanently in the drawing. Nice idea through.

The outside light only has a switched live.

Will the quick off/on PIR sensor override not work if the neutral is switched as well?

Brill, thanks to all replies.

Informative and helpful as always on this site *thumbs up*
