Light Fitting

Hi Guys, I have recently changed a Light Fitting(like for like) called Bella 10light Cluster from Next. The bulbs used are 250 lumens 20W G4 Halogen, recommended and purchased from Next.
The 1st fitting worked well for over a year but all of a sudden just stopped but you can see the bulbs where on as there is a very very small dot of light in the bulbs. Once changed for a new like for like fitting, when 8 out the 10 bulbs are in it works but when you put the 9th bulb in the light in it then just goes back to to the very small dot of light( which can only be seen if very close to the bulb). It’s as if I have a dimmer switch and the just goes down to nothing!
Could this be the transformer in the light fitting or something else?

might be a poor connection.

You can try examining the switch, transformer and light fitting, looking for any signs of overheating or loose connection.

Halogens have had their day now. Next time, buy LED lamps that run on mains voltage, no transformer required; cheaper to run; last longer, run much cooler, simpler to install. If you get one that takes a standard fitting bulb, such as SES for small ones, you will be able to buy them anywhere at low cost for the foreseeable future.

Is the power supply (I doubt if it is a transformer) part of the fitting or a separate component that you have re used for the new fitting?

The bulbs used are 250 lumens 20W G4 Halogen,

The light fitting is designed for 10W lamps, by installing 20W you are grossly overloading the transformer.

I sorry but I’m an amateur with this stuff!
the whole fitting is brand new and is connected to the 3wires from the ceiling... 1 blue, 1 brown and 1 yellow and green striped wire.
They was just connected to the fitting in the light.

As above, its likely the 20w lamps are to big and the transformers shutting down, it likely needs 10w lamps

Somewhere on the fitting will be a label stating size, or do a better pic of the transformer thats in the base you show above

Flipping hell...when purchasing online And going to checkout Next then give you the option to purchase the recommended bulbs.
School boy error....I should have read it properly
