Light for kitchen ceiling

We have two light fittings on our kitchen ceiling that comprise of three swivel spots on each. The ceiling is not very high and these hang proud and I want to replace these with two recessed (preferably led ) lights.
The ones I have looked at all seem to be flat but to ensure that the light radiates outwards and in effect does the same job as the spots I was hoping that there was a light that was slightly curved so that light was shone outwards as well as downwards.
Does anyone know of such lights.

No recessed light is going to shine outwards as much as a non-recessed one.

The best chance you have of avoiding pools of light and getting a decent spread is to go for large sizes. If you want LED there's the Thorn BaseLED, for example, which looks good on paper:

I've got some in my kitchen and they're pretty unobtrusive.
