I wonder if someone could help me out this one? I'm trying to replace a damaged light switch on the landing.

The switch operates a bulb in the hallway and a bulb on the landing. There is a further switch in the hallway which operates the same bulbs

Here's the problem! The existing switch has 4 connectors marked L1, L1, L2, and L2. The replacement switch I've purchased has connectors marked L1, L2, L3 and L4. It's an "intermediate" type which I hope is correct.

Please could someone tell me if I've bought the correct type of switch and if so, the correct wiring. It's thown me with the connections being labelled differently!

Please see images below. Thanks in advance for any help.

Existing switch (connections are marked L1, L1, L2, L2):

New switch just purchased (connections are marked L1, L2, L3, L4):

They do use some funny markings on switches.

You will notice each WIRE emerges from CABLES.

On one cable, put one yellow in L1 and it's corresponding blue in L2

On the other cable, put the yellow in L3 and it's corresponding blue in L4.

Plan B - use your multimeter to identify which terminals are connected to which when the switches are operated.
